Landforms Part Two
We're going to teach you about the Inland Plain. The states covered by the Inland Plain are Alabama, Kentucky, and Tennessee. The Inland Plain is good for tobacco and dairy farms. The horses and cattle eat the bluestem grasses found on the Inland Plain.
The Ouachita Mountains are in Central Arkansas. Farmers cultivate some of the land, but the Ouachita Mountains are best known for its timber, mining, and for hot springs.
The Ozark Mountains has rugged hills, deep valleys, and swift streams that give the region its beauty, and it is found in Northwest Arkansas.
Thick forests and underbrush cover most of the Ozark Mountains. In parts of the Ozark Mountains they raise livestock, raise poultry, and grow fruit. Corn and wheat are also raised in some parts of the Ozark Plateau.
The border between the lowlands an highlands such as the Coastal Plain and Piedmont Plateau is where the Fall Line is formed. The Fall Line is formed where the highlands and lowlands meet. Many waterfalls are found on the Fall Line.
The Southeast has an Atlantic Ocean on the east side of its border. The Southeast also has the Gulf of Mexico south of its border. The Southeast also has the Mighty Mississippi running through it. The bodies of water are important to the region's economy. The four tributaries of the Mississippi River are the Missouri River, Ohio River, Arkansas River, and the Red River. The Mississippi River has many tributaries. Tributary are smaller rivers that flow into bigger rivers.
